Colorida Art Gallery Launches 2017 With International Abstracts
Colorida Art Gallery, located in the Castelo de São Jorge neighborhood of Lisbon, opens 2017 with a array of contemporary art from Europe and around the world. The show features four (4) international artists working in digital and traditional medium. It is part of Colorida’s ongoing series of emerging abstract artists.
José Roberto Moreira, curator at the gallery, describes the pieces as follows: “The work of the American artist R S Kagan floats like a cloud, with diffuse materiality and always in movement. It is in the ability to record abstract forms, imperceptible to some, but filled with narratives, that lies the art of Mr. Kagan. The artist makes use of aesthetic elements that advance in different ways. They break apart, expand, spread over surfaces, unfold, and overlap. These forces contribute to sense of movement.”
The show runs through February 2017.

Selected in International ‘Abstracts’ Competition
Light Space & Time Gallery (Palm Beach, Florida) held a juried art competition during February 2016 as part of their Annual “Abstracts”
More and more, we find ourselves in-between: between destinations, or gigs, or relationships. Many times there are no markers to show us when we’ve crossed over. We are simply in motion, moving between two points, absorbed, unsettled.
These transitory spaces are tinged with disappointments and victories, with resignation and empowerment. They have become our new reality, our migratory paths with maps of their own.
We do not always know how we come to be in a state of in-between. This series is a guide to these unique terrains, composed of 32 maps (printed full color on archival paper, in limited edition, 30″ X 24″).
Exhibition. Artists from around the world were asked to submit their best nonobjective or nonrepresentational art for this competition.
The gallery received 1073 entries from 29 different countries from around the world, including Argentina, Australia, Bosnia and Hercegovina, Brazil, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kuala Lumpur, Morocco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Panama, Scotland, South Africa, Spain, St. Maarten, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom and Wales. In addition, the gallery received entries from 41 different states.
RSKagan was selected in the top winners for the Digital Art category for his piece, In-Between #29 . It is featured on their on-line exhibition. A second piece (In-Between #7) by RSKagan was also given honorable mention. The gallery’s on-line exhibit will run through March 2016.
New Show at the Pacific Art League of Palo Alto
The Pacific Art League of Palo Alto announced selections for its upcoming show Science, Technology and the Future of Art to be on display during the month of June, and will include work of RSKagan. The show is focused on the impact a new technologies and their artists are having an impact on the art landscape.
“The art world is increasingly inhabited by new media and technologies that expand and change the artist’s toolkit. In June, the Pacific Art League gallery will present artworks that challenge boundaries between science, technology and art, ” Stephanie Amon, Gallery Director.
The opening reception is June 3 (5:30 – 8:00 PM). The Pacific Art League is located at 668 Ramona Street, Palo Alto, California.
